From Sunday 29 October to Saturday 11 November 2023, Ikos | communication architecture, hosts the photographic exhibition The Ice Way by Alessandro Bergamini in its spaces in Modena.

The exhibition presents a selection of 11 large-format photographic works tracing the extreme journey undertaken by Alessandro Bergamini in the Ladakh territory (in the Indian Himalayas) to reach the village of Karsha and its Buddhist monastery.

During the winter period, the dark, deep gorge through which the Zanskar River flows – completely frozen from December to February – becomes the only passable, but highly dangerous road, with temperatures fluctuating between -25 and -40 degrees Celsius. An extreme walk that will repay the effort of all the participants in the expedition once the destination has been conquered, for the sight of breathtaking landscapes and the friendly welcome of the Karsha people.

Thanks to his shots Alessandro exclusively reveals the beauty of the snow-covered Zanskar Valley, allowing us to discover the life of its inhabitants in the midst of winter. In each Alessandro’s photographs, there is also a piece of his soul that joins a true spiritual heritage made up of suggestions and emotions to be experienced through vision.

The exhibition is curated and organised by Ikos | communication architecture with the collaboration of Valerio Ballotta and Virna Govoni of GBK Malta Ltd – Culture18fineart.
